Therapy for Couples, Emerging Adults, & Men

Connection is the core of human existence—it’s what makes us feel at peace. Difficult childhoods, trauma, and broken relationships cause destruction and chaos to those connections. We learn to cope by disconnecting from ourselves. This can lead to a multitude of mental health issues: anxiety, depression, anger, substance use, emotionally or physically abusive relationships, infidelity, etc.

I’m here as your guide. I help you understand your needs, improve your relationships, and heal from the pain. You know it’s time for something to change. Reclaim your authentic self. Be satisfied with your relationships. Be satisfied with life. Be satisfied with you.

About

Thanks for visiting. I’m Ian.

I approach therapy with a balance of care and challenge. I provide an open-minded environment to help you understand your thoughts, values, and emotions. In session, we practice awareness, acceptance, and non-judgment to build up tools and skills to handle stress. I’ll help you challenge your unhelpful behaviors, unconscious rules, patterns, and negative beliefs so you can reach your personal goals of wellness.

All of the approaches I use are evidence-based and trauma informed. I primarily use Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gottman Method (Level 2 trained), motivational interviewing (MI), mindfulness and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Other approaches I also use are Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP).

I earned my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northeastern Illinois University. In 2021, I moved to the Kanas City metro area. The majority of my professional experience has been with community mental health agencies, ReDiscover and Jewish Family Services of Greater Kansas City.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, fishing, running, lifting weights, spending time with my wife and children, exploring the vendors and shops at the city market, riding the streetcar, roaming around Union Station and Crown Plaza, and visiting friends and family in Chicago.
